Carter 1st Birthday!

I can't believe how fast his first year flew by! And I also can't believe how different he and Cooper are. Carter doesn't have any attachments (doesn't favor a certain blanket or stuffed animal), doesn't watch TV at all (his choice, not mine), and will eat anything and everything. He only takes one nap during the day, and, unlike Cooper, it's usually only an hour, 2 if I'm super lucky. He also just recently started sleeping through the night! He wouldn't take a pacifier and was always nursed to sleep, so when I quit nursing at 10 months, he couldn't figure out how to put himself back to sleep without getting a bottle in the middle of the night (and we are big suckers and couldn't let him cry). Now he's sleeping for 12 straight hours. Yah!

At his 1 year check-up, he weighed 2 lbs. more than Cooper did when he turned 1. Carter was crawling at 6 months and walking at 9 months. He is a happy boy and has us laughing all the time. He doesn't talk as much as Cooper did, but he does say Bye bye, Hi, Mama, Dada, Bobba (bottle), Bumpa, and Ball. He has an awesome growl that he does every time he picks up a dinosaur or a dragon, and he clicks his tongue when he wants food. He puts anything and everything in his mouth, which makes going to the park a terrible experience because he just wants to eat the bark or the rocks. He gives high fives and knuckles, knows where his belly button is, and can point to your nose when asked. He has 8 teeth and has his molars coming in right now.

We had a birthday party at our house for him, where he enjoyed being the center of attention, opening all his presents, and eating cake.

This is what happens when you get too close to the birthday boy while he's eating cake!
